Charitable-Activities

The society being non-profit organization is primarily dependent on the generosity of the devotees, well-wishers, sponsors and benefactors. As it is registered under section 12 A of income tax act, 1961 and has FCRA certificate, it can receive donations from both within India and outside India. Every donation received and utilized is accounted and audit report is sent to concerned offices on regular basis.
One of the biggest expenses incurred by the society is on food to the monks. Foods including breakfast, lunch and dinner is prepared in the common kitchen for over 2500 members of the society. Besides food, the society also provides accommodation and other infrastructure to enable them to practice and study Buddhism. There is no fees of any kind collected from the members for all the facilities enjoyed by them.
For all these years, the monks experienced great hardship and inconvenience due to the open debate courtyard. The monks have been exposed to the elements during the debate practice. So, with the generosity of our devotees, benefactors and supporters in foreign countries particularly from Taiwan and USA, the society embarked on debate hall project to ease the difficulties faced by the monk students. The project is nearing its completion and will be ready for use in a couple of months.
To further the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the society has also taken an initiative to incorporate Science subject in the monastic mainstream curriculum. It is compulsory for the general monks to study science in the curriculum.
Stipends are given to the monks from time to time so that they could purchase their individuals’ required study materials and clothing. Arrangements are also made on request to send monks to places to perform pujas and give Buddhist teachings to the interested people.
All the expenditure on school including salary to the staff, maintenance of school building and premise, furniture and on all activities carried out in the school are covered by the society. There is no fees on any of the facilities provided by the society.
Amongst other charitable activities undertaken by the society, one public service that the society offers to the local people is as a HP gas cylinder agency. Since the objective behind opening this agency primarily to serve the people through delivery of cooking gas and to save the local people from all kinds of inconvenience and trouble, the negligible profit from the sale goes towards the maintenance of the agency and partly towards the maintenance of the society.

FREE DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO LOCAL INDIAN SCHOOLS- A Charitable Activity
As a gesture of our support towards motivating the young children in local Indian schools to do well in their studies, the society embarked upon charitable activity of distributing free school supplies to four local Indian schools on 06th July 2023, marking the 88th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It is our sincere hope that this free distribution of school supplies will motivate the students to work harder and that the society will be able to undertake such charitable activity in the years to come.
